Vintage Inspired Pennant Banner

A little while back I contacted my friend Rosa owner and creator of Gabry Road with the idea of having a vintage pennant banner for the girls room but also for a special one year old photo shoot I'm planning for Alexia. As usual Rosa was more than happy to help me out and I was blown away by the end result! The pennant banner is amazing, I love the mix of fabrics and the bias tape is also a mix of fabric that adds such an interesting a beautiful accent to the banner. I was blown away when I saw the end result.

I know that one more pennant banner was listed in Rosa's etsy shop - Gabry Road. So if you are interested make sure to check out her lovely shop.

Thank you again Rosa for executing my vision in such a beautiful way!!

Love You More

Happy Friday friends, here in Canada we are getting ready for our Canada day long weekend, looking forward to the long weekend festivities!

Today I'm sharing another layout created with the June Hip Kit. Ever since this kit landed on my doorstep last week I've been happily creating. I love the Crate Paper frames included in this kit, I built the layers around this frame.

There are lots of embellishments in this kit, which I love, especially for layering. After building my paper base, I layered chipboard accents, diecut pieces and enamel dots, this created a fun little embellishment cluster beside the picture. This is actually one of my favourite things to do when I'm creating a layout.

I've used these speech bubbles in the past but I had some leftover and had to use them again. One of the add on kit features Jillibean Soup Chilled Cucumber stamp and Heidi Swapp mist. I used the mist as paint, dipping a paint brush in the mist I applied a thin layer to the hearts of the speech bubble. The mist dried very quickly and created a soft muted effect on the hearts. The other speech bubble was just the perfect size for one of the Jillibean Soup stamp, it was meant to be, love it when that happens.

Everyday

I'm back today with another layout I created with the June Hip Kit. I really wanted to use this bold black and white paper as my background but that is very out of norm for me, I usually prefer pale coloured background. I very much enjoyed the challenge, sometimes it's good to step out the box.

I'm a sucker for tabs, I was a happy girl when I saw the days of the week tabs in the Basic Grey pack of diecuts. They were my starting point for this layout. As well I wanted to add dimension to the background paper, I achieved this by adding strips of black paper which I stitched on and then raised the edges.

The title was cut with my Cameo and the font used is called SPPurkage, I've had this font for many years and used to print my title  with my home printer, then I'd trimmed out the word with an exacto knife, anyone else remembers doing this? Now that I have a Cameo it's so much easier! I applied some SU blue liquid glue which is ideal for glitter, then I sprinkled the American Crafts glitter (available in the add on kit) on my title. Just like that I have a glittery title.

What have you done lately to step out of your comfort zone?!

Happy Happy Day

Well I've been having a blast playing with the June Hip Kit, I just love the mix of collections and embellishments Kimberly has chosen for this wonderful kit.

For this layout I used pictures of Brianna's 4th birthday, which are almost a year old, oooops! The pictures are a bit dark, it was a rainy day so we had to take the pictures on the porch, so I decided to use light colours in an attempt to bring out the picture.

To create the round glitter circles, I used the end of a pencil eraser on which I applied SU glued, then used the eraser as a stamp. I lightly sprinkled the American Crafts glitter included in the add on kit and it created a fun little accent, which I think coordinated well with the enamel dots.

I also used the same method to apply glitter to the number 4 on the cut out, I wanted to bring focus on her age, the glitter was the just the right things to use.

Hope you've enjoyed seeing the close ups of my layouts. If you like the kit and want to know more about it, make sure to check out the Hip Kit site.

Week 22

Today I am sharing week 22 on the Jillibean Soup blog. I thought that my pictures were all over the place, different activities, Alexia's baptism, home renos, IG pics, DLSR pics, etc... So I wanted to keep things simple, I paired POW glitter paper with Silhouette cuts. I used Bite Size Bits by Jillibean Soup along with various stickers and diecuts to embellish the journaling cards. I have to say that my 2 favorite cards are the date and speech bubble cards, close ups can be seen on the Jillibean Soup blog.

How are you coming along with your PL? Are you behind? Right now I'm about 2 weeks behind, but I should catch up very soon. That's typical for me, get behind 3 weeks or so, and then catch up. Whatever works right?!

Special Delivery

This card is up on the Jillibean Soup blog today. I created it using the Irish Farm House Soup collection, which I paired with white embossed cardstock. I had leftover cardstock from a previous project, I decided to put it to good use. I layered a banner sticker underneath the cardstock which I adhered to the card using foam dots. The enamel flower is actually a sugar pick from the new release collection, I simply removed the pin portion and used the flower as an embellishment. I did add stitching to the special delivery greeting, I just thought it was a quick and easy way to add another little detail to the card.

My fellow DT members also shared a lot of wonderful cards on the blog, if you are looking for inspiration make sure to check out the Jillibean Soup blog.

Shine with Basic Grey

I'm not sure how I could have missed this collection, but I just recently discovered the Hey You collection by Basic Grey, hello awesomeness!!!  This is another quick layout that I completed during Lex's nap time, I'm a girl on a mission, if it takes more than an hour to complete a layout I have to move on to the next one. So far it's working...

I only have the 6x6 paper pad, but that did just fine. I was still able to create layers, I actually love using the paper pads for layouts, I feel that I waste less paper. I also used the chipboard pieces and material stickers from the same collection, love the versatily of this collection.

The butterfly was created using a large punch, I was too lazy to open up the Cameo, that's why I still love my punches, those lazy moments happen quite often. HA! The stamping to the right is created with a American Craft roller stamp, I'm really happy that they created this stamp without the date, I hope they will be releasing more of those, perhaps with little shapes, like a moustache, glasses, arrows...well you get the point.

Happy friday folks!!

In the meantime I thought I would share these pics that Kimberly took of the kit, so much goodness I just can't wait!!!

Today You

This is another layout that came together rather quickly. It was nap time for Alexia and I was on a mission to create something, this is the result. I think I've already mentioned how much I love Crate Paper's DIY collection, this is another layout that I created with the collection. I used very little pattern paper on here, but I did pile on the diecuts and stickers.

The title is cut using my Cameo and American Craft's POW glitter paper  in Gold. Another thing that I love doing at the moment, is using my typewriter to write the journaling directly on the picture. The strips of pattern paper were stitched, then I lifted the edges to add more dimension. The diecuts were then layered on top of the strips of paper using thin foam dots, this layout is very bulky but I do like the end result.

Celebrate Today

Every month on the Jillibean Soup blog, Kimber shares a card sketch. I love playing along, the sketches are always very inspiring. This month's was no exception, you can see the sketch on the Jillibean Soup blog, which resulted in this card.

To create this card I used the Irish Farm House Soup collection which I paired with a polaroid placemats. The polaroid was used instead of a tag, as shown in the sketch. The greeting was created using a die cut card from the same collection. I hope you will stop by the blog to see what the other amazing takes on this fun sketch.

Wonderful You

This week I was on a mission to scrap! So I challenged myself to create a layout a day while Alexia napped. So I pulled one of my favourite collection by Crate Paper - DIY and got to work and started layering papers and embellies. I ended up with this layout, I'm pretty happy about it.

I love adding layers to my layouts, which I create with pattern paper but also embellishment and diecuts. Crate Paper always creates amazing coordinating diecuts with their collections, I could just use that on a layout and I would be a happy girl! Tim Holtz tiny attacher is one of my favourite tools, so practical for adhering wood veneer and other embellishments.

The top portion of the layout features the speech bubble pattern paper. I added words to the bubbles using Heidi Swapp rub ons. I was hoping to use my typewriter but the paper was too big, so glad to have had those rubs in my stash. The little wood veneer hearts compliments the arrows that are located below.

So another little cluster of embellishments, sometimes I will use something that fits in with the layout, such as the A for Alexia and 9 for her age in months. Other times I'll just use something because I feel like it, it doesn't really "fit" in the theme of the layout but I don't really care, HA! That was the case of the clouds, they were on my desk and I just decided to plop them on my layout, no reason, I just felt like it.

Well I was chatty today, wasn't I!? Enjoy your weekend, I'll be back on Monday.

Week 21

Today I'm sharing week 21 which is up on the Jillibean Soup blog. I used the Macho Nacho Soup collection, this is my favourite Jillibean line. The colors speak to me, the patterns are fabulous, it just works for every type of project. The bite size bits cards were perfect for a PL, not sure Jill intentionally did that when she designed the line but it's like they were created for a PL.

I've also used the new Placemats, Wise Words and Corrugated Words. I've included a lot of close up pictures on the Jillibean Soup blog. I hope you'll check it out.

Never

Never  would have I thought that I would like camping, especially with kids. So I was very shocked when we purchased a trailer and decided to take this on with the kids and guess what, I love it!!! I love sharing such a small space with my family, the naps, the marshmallow roasting and the best part, the girls LOVE it.

So of course I had to document this on layout. I just love the DIY collection by Crate Paper, how I adore this collection. It was perfect for this layout. Another bonus, this layout took 45 minutes to complete. SCORE!!! I try to make the most of Alexia's afternoon nap and when I have time to do a layout while she naps, it has to be done by the time she wakes up, otherwise it drags on forever. LOL!

There are a lot of layers on this layout. I used the tags, diecut frames and stickers to create the various layers and add dimension. The title is cut using my Cameo and glitter paper by American Crafts. I just love this glitter paper, I was hesitant to use it with my Cameo but it cuts beautifully, I'm hooked!!

The picture was edited using the BeautifulMess app. What a fun photo editing app, love all the lovely doodles and words available. Love it!

Hello Friend

I just love this latest Jillibean Soup release, Irish Farm House Soup, it was my first time playing with this collection and I loved it so much that I couldn't stop creating.

The process to create this card is rather simple, but I added a bit of stitching and layers to create more depth and dimension. I also love layering tabs, the tabs below were cut using a MFT die along with my cuttlebug. Even though I do have a Cameo I like using my Cuttlebug for these smaller pieces.  The new diecuts are wonderful, I just adore this little bicycle and had to put it to good use.

Thanks for the visit!
