Studio Calico November Card Kit

Today is an exciting day for me,
the cards I created for Studio Calico are featured
on the Studio Calico blog! I had a blast playing with the
November kit, I just couldn't stop creating, I
made a total of 6 cards!! If you know my card making
style, you know that I like to pile on the embelishements,
even in doing so with these cards, there is still plenty of stuff
leftover. As well, aside from the essential such as
twine, ink and mist, I only used the contents of this kit.
That's a sign of an awesome kit.

Today I will post a couple of these cards,
the remainder can be seen on the Studio Calico blog,
I would truly appreciate it if you stop by the SC blog
to check things, even better, leave a comment
if you like what you see. There were 3 other girls
playing along with me, their cards are fabulous!!

This card features the November background cut file,
availabe here at Studio Calico. I used this
file with my Cameo, love how it turned out!

For good measure I added some stitching and a dash
of yellow for a pop of color. Embossed the stamp banner
using AC Zing embossing powder, which is also
available here at Studio Calico. This time I left the
feather wood veneer au naturel!

This card features the November Pocket cut file,
availabe here at Studio Calico. Added lots of layers using
the diecuts hexagons and I just can't get enough of
those tabs. A bit of bling here and there and of
course those awesome alpha stickers by Jenni Bowlin,
ties it all up nicely together.

This time around I added some Mister Huey in Warm
and Shine Calico, love the dark woodgrain effect it produced.
These are again available in the SC store, here.

Thanks for stopping by, hope you have enjoyed these cards!

Tiny Pumpkins

Happy Friday y'all! Hope you have some fun
stuff ahead this weekend. Today I'm sharing a layout
I created for Jillibean Soup. This was designed using
the Country Pumpkin Soup collection, love love love
a good Fall theme collection. I went digging to find
older pictures of the girls, these are a couple
years old, they are so small, Bri was only 2 in that
picture, time flies!!!

Again I went for a neutral background, I'm also a sucker
for a good plain background, the grid design is
so perfect. I added layers, tags, doilies and twine.
We haven't made it out to the pumpking patch this year,
I was hoping to do this weekend but they are calling
for rain, hopefully we will catch a break!

Studio Calico November Card Kit

A while back I received an email from the wonderful
people at Studio Calico inviting me to participate in a special feature
of the card kit! After picking up my jaw from the floor, shouting out to
my husband to come and read the email, I quickly replied that I
would be thrilled and honored to participate.

You see, I love making cards but I usually make them for DT
assignments or with leftover papers, I never worked with a kit.
I was so exctied to receive my first card kit and let me tell you,
it is stunning! The custom made 6x6 paper pad is THE best!!!
When making cards I love working with the smaller scale prints
and that's exactly what the paper pad offers. Of course, true to its roots,
Studio Calico includes a wonderful greeting stamp that is ultra versatile
and some stunning embelishments, all in all, I was in love with this kit.
I've been posting my sneaks on Instagram and Twitter (scrappymelb)
and thought I should share them here today. The full reveal will be at
the end of the month, I can not wait. In the meantime, I truly
hope you will like what I have to share.

A HUGE thank you to the folks at SC,
this has made me a very happy cardmaker!!!

Thinking of You

Well it's already Monday, the weekend sure went by quickly!
I do like Mondays, a fresh week, new possibilities, opportunities
and of course, cards Monday with Jillibean Soup!
This week I'm sharing a card I created using the new Hexies,
aren't they fabulous!? No cutting, just peel and stick, easy
peasy, love it! I paired them with a journaling card,
wood flag, twine and voila, a quick and easy card.

Happy Monday y'all!

Hello Trendy Girl

As Danika is getting older she is becoming more aware of what is trendy
and cool. Right now she has a love for friendship bracelets and feather
earrings. Of course this was the perfect scrapping subject.

To create this layout I used a Studio Calico kit - Summer of 69,
btw still love that Bryan Adams song!
I did lots of layers, used my cameo, sewing machine
and stamps. I tried to make this layout as trendy as possible.
Of yeah, I used color cardstock!!!
I haven't done that in ages, I usually use white or pale pattern paper.

Just A Note

I am sharing with you today a card I created with leftovers
from a Studio Calico kit. It's a simple card, that came
quickly together, a perfect example (i think) of how scraps
can be used up for cards. I have to make a special mention for
the Prima Crystals, they are my new favorite embelishement.
So perfect for any project, the pack offers multiple sizes,
that is why I love getting kits, you get to try things you wouldn't
normally purchase or in my case, find in my area.

A little note, I'm now on Instagram and Twitter, so if you are interested
in following me, my name is scrappymelb, I would love to see what you
are up too on Instagram (I'm completly addicted to that site and my new iphone!)

Butterflies

Happy friday friends. I saw some flurrings this morning, eeeek!
I am not ready for winter!!!

Today I'm sharing a lo I created with a Studio Calico kit,
Summer of 69. Love these pics of Brianna, my sweet shy girl.
First time activities are hard for her, starting school was
no exception, even if she was excited, she would have prefered
to stay home with me and the baby. But with the help of her
big sister and lots of encouragement, she no longer cries
in the mornings when Dan drops her off. Yep, it took 6 weeks
for this to happen, I am sooooo proud of her.

Leg warmers

When I was pregnant with Alexia I found these adorable leg
warmers for babies. They are so pratical, especially when around
the house and she's wearing a onesie, plus she's totally cute.
I didn't have any of these for the older two girls, I guee it wasn't
on the market yet, funny how with every pregnancy there
is a new trend or hot item that I must purchased. Since
this is our last baby I was good but I couldn't resist the leg warmers.

I create this layout for Jillibean Soup using the new Grandma Lima
Bean Soup. I also used a wood banner  on which I stamped
on the underside portion of the banner. I thought it was a fun way
to get more use out of those wood banners that I love!

Using a Studio Calico template I misted the white cardstock,
I wanted to mimic the stripes pattern in the leg warmers. I used
3 different mist to create a multicolor pattern.

As always, thanks for the visit!

Cheers

Happy Thanksgiving to my Fellow Canadians.
I hope your day is filled with lots of yummy fall goodness.
I have so much to be thankful for;
 my healthy girls who bring me so much joy;
my loving supportive husband who is my best friend;
being off work for a year while I enjoy my new baby;
our health!;
enjoying the Fall colors and activities our land has to offer;
this wonderful hobby which gives me the creative outlet I so
badly need and the fact that I've had some amazing opportunities
and met so many wonderful people because of paper!

One of these amazing opportunities is designing for Jillibean Soup.
You all know my love for Jill and her company,
I am so very grateful to have "met" her, Kimber and the team.
Today I'm sharing a card I created for Jillibean Soup.

Lots of my go to items on this card, the shipping tag,
the Soup Labels, the diecut border, I think these items always
make their way onto my Jillibean Soup projects.

Happy Day to You!

Love x3

This week I played along with the sketch challenge at Studio Calico.
This picture totally gets to me, the girls were all ligned up on our bed,
their feet together, how could I resist this moment?!
Of course I had to capture it on film.

To create this layout I used the August kit, which I've just
opened for the first time (yep I'm a bit behind).
If you haven't yet played along with the challenges
at Studio Calico you should check them out,
lots of inspiration going on.

On yeah, got some of my first cut with my new Cameo.
Still learning the ins and outs of this awesome machine,
the options are endless!!!

& Spin

Well it seems that I have a thing for yellow!
If I have yellow papers, embelishments, letters, you
name it, it will find it's way on my lo!!!

The chipboard pieces were covered using various methods,
for one I used woodgrain washi, the other a Studio Calico
exclusive die cut, at finally good ol' ink! Love the
various looks this creates.

Love love love Danika's expression in this picture,
pure glee!!!!!

Words of Wisdom

Well I've finally done it and used up a whole Studio Calico kit!
You see, when it comes to my kits, I'm a chronic horder.
I store them in their pretty bags, pull them out to do one or
two layouts and back in the bag it goes.
Well this month I did things differently, I created
4 layouts and a card, yeah I have stuff leftover, but
I'm ready to move on and part with what's left over of the kit,
I'm ok with that because I'm happy with what I created.

Danika turned 8 a couple of weeks ago and when I
saw the Amy Tangerine speech bubble paper, I knew
I wanted to use it to showcase randome quotes
that I like to tell Danika. This was also inspired
by Nicole Samuel's DT layout for Studio Calico.

I cut out the inside of the speech bubble using an exacto knife,
printed the quotes on vellum, and glued both parts together,
trimmed the edges and voila, instant speech bubbles with flair.
I just think it's a fun take on some pretty funky pattern paper.

With the scraps of paper, I managed to whip up a quick
fun card for a very awesome friend!

Can you spy something new on this card? If you noticed the
diecut word you are correct!!! My Silhouette Cameo arrived this
past week and I've been having a blast with it!
Happy Mondahy y'all!
