2nd Merry Christmas with Hip Kit Club

Can you believe that I still have some Christmas inspired layouts to share!? I went all out this year with my Christmas themed projects, I've never created so many layouts about this wonderful Holiday.

The inspiration for this layout was the awesome Crate Paper velum paper, I just adore the gold doilies and knew they needed to be the focus of my layout. I adhered the velum on white cardstock and stitched some extremely uneven whimsy circles in the centre of the doilies.

I layered my picture using a lot of die cuts from the Crate Paper collection. I started with the mat for my picture then just randomly added layers until it look right to me. Lately I find that I've been spreading my layout over the page, always ending with a small embellishment, like I did to the right of this layout. I find this style creates a nice flow on the layout.

So as you have noticed, I haven't created a 12x12 layout in a long time and i'm not sure I will again. I find I am able to be more creative with the smaller format. Which is an odd thought because the 12x12 format just offers more options but for some reason I often struggled to find balance between filling up my page and still leaving white space. This smaller size just works for me and honestly, it speeds up my process by 50%. Its a win win situation for me.

Good Stuff NYC

Hello friends! Hope you all had a beautiful Holiday Season with your friends and family. I've been meaning to share this layout for a while now, it was created for Hip Kit club using the October kit. Loved the green stripped paper but it was too bold to use as a full background so I toned it down with  misted cardstock. Love how just a bit of cardstock can bring balance to a layout.

The tag that was part of the kit was ideal for my title, I layered alpha stickers on the speech bubble for a bit more fun.

Using my Fiskars arrow punch I added a bit of detail to the 3x4 card, just a little fun way to add punch to any card or pattern paper.

So Very Loved with Jillibean Soup

That she is!! My sweet baby girl is so loved by her big sisters, sometimes even a bit too much. They love to make her laugh, make sure she has all the toys she needs, she is very lucky to have such awesome big sisters!! So grateful that my girls have each other.

This layout is created for Jillibean Soup and features the Christmas Cheer Chowder and the chevron placemat. I had some leftovers of my favourite placemat and decided to cut it up and use as a focal point for my title. The title was cut with my Cameo, I used a font called SP Purkage that I got many years ago.

Fa La La with Chic Tags

With Christmas just around the corner I am more than ever inspired to create Christmas themed layouts. Today I'm sharing a layout I created for Chic Tags which features the Good Tidings collection. This layout is for our Sunday Sketch challenge. Ashley has created another stunning layout, it was a blast to play along. All the details are on the Chic Tags blog.

The sketch features a banner along the bottom of the pictures, I decided to use the photo toppers from the Good Tidings collection to create the banner. I find that adding more details such as snowflakes, sequins and stars, always make things more interesting.

I used white Mister Huey to add splatters to the woodgrain but in doing so I made a mess and it didn't look right. So I used the wonderful gold star rub-ons from the Good Tidings collection to hide my mess, in the end it worked out.

Noel with Chic Tags

Happy Friday! I'm up on the Chic Tags blog today (link to the left) with a layout using the Good Tidings collection. I really can't get enough of this fabulous collection. The tags are one of my favourite accents in this collection, I really enjoyed creating the velum pocket with the sequins (I elaborate on this on the Chic Tags blog).

#Broken with Hip Kit Club

Happy Tuesday friends, I'm back today with a layout for Hip Kit club which features the awesome November kit.  Kimberly put together an awesome kit with some of the best holiday themed products released this year.

I decided to scrapbook an unfortunate tradition, every year someone breaks an ornament and for the past couple of years its been Brianna, poor girl is always traumatized by it. The cut file is from Studio Calico and I used my typewriter to add a second title in the cut file.

Sunday Sketch with Studio Calico

Welcome friends! Today I'm up on the Studio Calico blog with the Sunday sketch challenge. I just love the sketches and knew I had to do a project for each of them.

Here is the card I created based on the card sketch.

The layout and sketch layout are on the Studio Calico website. I hope you will check it out -----> here.

Thank you to Studio Calico for inviting me to play along.

Believe with Jillibean Soup

20 days until Christmas!! Y'all ready?! I'm not but I've been making Christmas layouts, that counts right?! This layout is created for Jillibean Soup using the latest Christmas collection which I've paired with scraps from a Jillibean Soup placement and Kraft tag. The title was cut with my Cameo using a file from Studio Calico, I just realized that my last 2 layouts have the same title, I guess I really like this cut file! ha!

I can't believe that this picture was taken a year ago, I'm feeling a bit nostalgic lately so I've been scrapping more baby pictures of Lex. The process for this layout was rather simple, my tag is the focus of my page and serves as a mat for the title. I used some die cuts and stamps to layer with the placemat and I kept the layers to a minimum for the picture, since there's a lot going on.

Enough with Hip Kit

Today's layout is created for Hip Kit club using the awesome September kit. Love the mix of papers in this kit along with the awesome embellishments like the Amy Tangerine die cuts, which I used on this layout.

My design process for this layout was rather simple, layers and more layers. I used scraps of papers to mat my picture and then built around it. The journaling was created with my electric typewriter, I thought the Fancy Pants clock was the perfect embellishment to coordinate with my journaling.  I used a fun picture that I took on my birthday, sometimes its nice to take a moment to pause and reflect on the blessings of life.

Cards with Hip Kit Club

Morning friends! Hope you all had a lovely weekend, our Elf on the Shelf has made its first ever appearance and the girls loved him. I'm sure you will see him in some upcoming layouts.

Today I would like to share the cards I created with the September Hip Kit.
The first 2 cards feature chipboard shapes by Crate Paper. I added a lot of layers with the chipboard, some fun accents with gold and a splash of colour with pink.

The next one is a simple card, I would even say it has a masculine feel to it, perfect for that special guy!

This is my funkiest card of all 4, I did cut out 3 triangles, thought it would make a bigger contrast, perhaps I should have lined it with a brighter paper as opposed to white. The cute little phone was definitely my inspiration for this card.

Believe

I decided to play along with this week's inspiration for the Lifted class at Studio Calico, loved the inspiration piece and thought it was a fun a way to make me think outside the box.

I just recently received (from an awesome secret santa!) the latest collection designed by Shanna Noel for Studio Calico and I just love it. The bright funky patterns are so much fun to work with. Seriously, that ampersand paper, I just can't get enough of it.

You might not be able to see it, but my title is under the picture, love using white on white, next time I'll be more careful when editing my picture of my layout. This is really a just for fun a layout, it's me trying new things, putting myself out there (because I feel that the journaling says a lot about me, which I don't usually care to share). So this is me, just being me. LOL! Happy Friday!

3285 days with Hip Kit

Good morning fellow scrappers. I'm back today with a layout that I created for Hip Kit club using the awesome September kit. You might wonder what the title is about, well it's a birthday layout but I didn't want to use the typical birthday title, so since D is 9 it adds up to 3285 days, its different.

The Hip Kit features a sunburst mask and mist, I decided to pair the mask with this lovely CP paper. I added a bit of stitching along the edges of the sunburst to add a bit more fun and dimension to my layout.

I love chipboard and what I love even more is Crate Paper chipboard, LOL! Love to use them as layers and clusters that frame the picture. Yes it does make for a bulky layout but I don't really mind it, I just love the dimension it brings to a layout.

#loveyou with Hip Kit Club

TGIF!!!! I want to share a layout created for Hip Kit club using the September kit. After a recent discussion on a message board, I decided to try out 8.5x11 and this was my first layout in this new (to me) format. I have to be honest, I love the process of creating with a smaller format and another advantage to using this format, I am able to use my typewriter to journal directly on my cardstock.

Love this colour combo of gold, navy and green. Funny how a couple of years ago I would have never used gold on a project but now I can't get enough!! Loved working with the September kit, the colour palette varies from soft pastels to warm hues like navy. It is such a fun and versatile kit.

Christmas Cheer with Chic Tags

Hello friends! I have a layout up on the Chic Tags blog today. It features the awesome gold star rub-ons and the Good Tiding collection, which I love!!!

I love layers, that's no secret, for this layout I created my layers using the accents from the Good Tidings collection, the possibilities and options are endless. I had to stop myself because I could have easily kept on going and well, it would have been too much. LOL!

Here is a preview of the details with the rub-ons, more details and information is posted on the Chic Tags blog ----> right here.

Did you know that Christmas is only 37days away?!

Highlights with Chic Tags

Happy Sunday friends! I have a layout up on the Chic Tag blog today for the Sunday sketch challenge. I really enjoyed the design of the sketch but made some slight adjustments so it would fit a 81/2 x 11 format. Yep, I'm trying to scrap this smaller size. Love that I can journal with my typewriter directly on the cardstock and for some reason, my layouts come together much more quickly.

To create this layout I used the Happy Place collection, how i love this latest release by CT. The colours, the greeting on the die cuts and the overall theme of the paper just makes me happy!!! The title was cut with my Cameo and is super easy to do. Just pick the font you like, type out the word and using the "weld" option connect all the letters together. Just love the larger size of this title.

Hope you will play along with us, all the details are on the CT blog

Cards with SC Kits

Hello friends, I'm back today to share a couple of cards inspired by the Lifted class going on at Studio Calico.

This first card was created with the Roundabout card kit. I used my EK success label punch to create layers on the card. Love the resin greeting including in this kit, perfect accent for a card!

This card was created using the Double Scoop kit and the printables from the Lifted class. Ive been asked before what I used to print the printables from SC, I don't have a fancy printer, just basic Canon colour printer with Canon paper and it prints perfectly. There's no need for a fancy printer to print these awesome printables.

Everyday with Hip Kit Club

This layout was created for Hip Kit club using the fabulous October kit. Of course now that I've went to NYC with my oldest I will have lots of pics of our trip to scrap. I thought this was the perfect one to use first, it was taken in Central Park, it just makes me happy!

I can never get enough of the CP chipboard frames, I love using them as mini canvas to create clusters of embellishments. Lots and lots of layers going on here.

I really admire scrappers that can beautifully mix various alphas to create a lo, I just can't seem to make it work, so I do the next best thing, I use a focus word in my title and cut it using my Cameo. The "everyday" word was cut with white cardstock and I used the Tim Holtz gold stain to colour it, love how it turned out.

Last but not least I created a simple card using the leftovers from this layout. Don't you just love the mix of teal pp and kraft cradstock?!

Family with Hip Kit

Happy Friday friends, it's been a busy week on my blog and I'm back today to share another layout created with the fabulous October Hip Kit. This layout is a busy one! The large gold splatter was created with the Tim Holtz stain, to create this effect simply remove the sponge tip applicator and splatter the stain with the underside of the applicator. It gets messy but that's the fun of it!

I wanted to create a fun accent to my layout so I cut various leaves shapes using my Cameo and backed them with pattern paper. I also added some stitching around each leaf, just a little extra something to make it more fun.

You can see the splatter effect I created with the Tim Holtz stain, I just love this stuff. Seriously awesome to work with, so happy that Kimberly added it to the kit.

Hello Today with Jillibean Soup

Today I want to share a layout I created for Jillibean Soup using the Chilled Cucumber Soup. I love working with triangles but I don't like cutting them freehand, so I was happy to come across this template in the Silhouette store. I decided to use scraps of paper to put on the backside of the triangles, the white triangles were stitched on the white cardstock, love the contrast this creates.

I matted my pictures on layers of pattern paper and velum. I also used the tags and coordinating label stickers. When I struggle to fill in a section on my layouts I will often create this little tabs using a mini punch and scrap paper. This creates a fun accent that adds another layer to the layout.

I've mentioned before that I keep cut files on hand this way I always have random cuts to use on my layouts. For this particular layout the cut files were my source of inspiration to create the title work.

31 with Hip Kit Club

Well this is the only Halloween layout I created this year :( The weather wasn't great and I had to redo our pictures days after Halloween, by that time the girls weren't into it anymore so only my oldest participated in my photo shoot. I do like these pics of Danika she was such a trooper and played the part of the zombie prom queen (minus the make up) very well.

To create this layout I used the awesome October kit by Hip Kit club. This kit is full of the latest Basic Grey collection. Loved using the leaves along with the die cuts and stickers.

I really didn't know what to call this layout, I didn't want to use the traditional halloween titles so I kept it simple and used "31" as my title. This kit is fabulous for not only Halloween layouts but also Fall themed layouts, I'll have some more to share in the days ahead.

You Light up my Life with Jillibean Soup

My card today features one of my favourite colour combo, teal and yellow. I just love how these colours contrast each other, to create this card I used the Chilled Cucumber collection along with some leftovers pieces from the white chevron placemat by Jillibean Soup. This placemat is one of my favourite item Jillibean Soup has released, I've used it as its original purpose, a placemat but I've also used it in pieces as in the card below, its a fun and easy element to add to any project.

(all products by Jillibean Soup)

Love This Smile with Jillibean Soup

I sure love her cute smile and this card by Jillibean Soup was my source of inspiration for creating this layout. I've paired it with the Chilled Cucumber Soup collection and lots of layers.

I trimmed the chevron placemat to create 2 arrows, which I've sewn on my layout. I added lots of layers, diecuts and stickers. This was a fun and quick layout to create.

Cute Pumpkin with HipKit Club

Today I'm sharing 2 projects I created with the fabulous October Hip Kit. Love the mix of orange, navy blue and gold accents, such fun colours to work with at this time of year.

My first project is a layout, I love all the little bits of embellishments, diecuts and stickers included in this kit. I knew I have to create a big cluster of embellishments on my layout and I think it worked out pretty well!

I just love the shirt my youngest daughter is wearing, I wanted to create an accent pumping, to do so I used my Cameo and simple pumpkin shape, which I layered with pattern paper and stitched around the edges.

This kit is full of awesome embellishments, I love embellishments and layering them onto my layouts. I wanted to create a focus area with journaling and embellishments. To achieve this look I "dumped" the accents on my layout and just started to play around with them, almost like a puzzle. It was a very fun process.

I also have a card to share, love pairing the kraft with navy blue, such a beautiful combination. This card is rather easy to create, I used stickers layered with die cuts embellishments. Added stitching a typed greeting with my electronic typewriter.
