Baby It's Cold

Yep it is!!! I know I'm in Canada and snow if part of our climate
but this winter has been very hard. Again today we are
expecting another 10 to 15 cm of snow, good for the skiers,
not so good for the SAHMs who are dying to go out for a walk.

With that being said, today I am sharing my first layout for Hip Kits! YAY!
I just love love love the January kit, the papers are some of my favorite
collections, lots of embellishments and 4 sets of alphas!
So much goodness in this awesome kit.

The snowflakes were cut using my Silhouette Cameo, at first I wanted
to cut them out directly on the patter paper and then back them up with
white cardstock, but I was afraid of not liking the result and wasting
a beautiful piece of paper, so I went for the safer alternative and cut
out the snowflakes using white cardstock.
I've added lots of layers and using the gold polka dot velum paper,
LOVE IT!!!!!!!!

I have lots of more projects with this kit that I will be sharing over
the week including a couple of PL spreads.
Hope you'll come back to check them out.

Be You

Today I'm sharing a layout and a card based on the Sunday Sketch
over on the Studio Calico blog. I love creating cards based on
layouts, this card took a whole 5 minutes to create, gotta love that!

I slightly modified the sketch by using one picture instead of 2 and
moving the title to the left of the page. My title work was created with
my trusty Cameo, I lined the back of the cardstock with pattern paper
and  added a bit of stitching.

I kept a muted colour palette which I always find more pleasing to
the eye, of  course lots of layers were added and
some random Cameo cuts were thrown in for good measure.
I have a thing for triangles right now, I'm afraid they will
show up on every project I create.

Happy Day

Since yesterday was a stat holiday for Family Day, today feels like a
Monday, I'm feeling a bit out of whack. We did have a lovely weekend,
we enjoyed each others company, played Monopoly, went to
the movies, hung out, it was lovely, just what we all needed.

Today I'm sharing a card I created for Jillibean Soup using the
new collection Chilled Cucumber Soup. I know I've said it before
but here I go again....I LOVE THIS COLLECTION.
I want to decorate my whole house using the grey, teal
and yellow color combo. Actually I don't want to do it,
I'm going to do it. Hubby is painting our living room next weekend.
So back to this card, I've used the new cardstock stickers
and die cuts, I love these new additions to the Jillibean Soup
lines, it's always fun to change things up a bit.

I hope you are enjoying a happy day!!!

Laina Lamb's Designs

Today I'm sharing a layout that I created for my
sweet friend Laina's, using her wonderful stamps and dies.

You can see the full pictures of the stamps and dies in
a previous blog post - Laina Lamb's Design

To create the circle background I used a leftover sheet from cut outs
I made with the Cameo, why waste perfectly good cardstock!?
I added stitching to create a grid effect.

Using Laina's die set, I created a tab under which I've included
hidden journaling. I had a lot of personal thoughts to put down,
I thought they would be best hidden.

The date stamp is also part of Laina's stamp collection.
Love this stamp set, it's very handy with my Project Life album,
which I will be showcasing in a couple of weeks.

I created the "so blessed" saying by mixing letters from the
various dies cut outs I had left over. Again, something that would
normaly be discarded was reused. It's about making
the most of what you have.

I hope you've enjoyed seeing this project for Laina Lamb's Designs.
All her products are available on the My Favorite Things website.

I perticular have a little scrappy crush on this stamp set

And this die, perfect for Project Life!

Jillibean Soup Cards

Today I would like to share a couple of cards I created for
Jillibean Soup for CHA.

I paired this collection with kraft paper, I just love the
effect this color combo produces.

I made the tag the focus of the card, and if you notice,
the punched out hearts were used on the cards above.

Hope you have a very sweet Valentine's day.

You Make Me Smile

It's the start of another week, I hope you had a lovely
weekend. We are recovering from a snowstorm and
are currently under a freezing rain advisory warning.
Spring can not come soon enough!!!

This layout was created for Jillibean Soup and features
one of my fave collections of all times by Jillibean,
Chilled Cucumber Soup!
Love the yellows, teals and greys, such a beautiful
combination. I also love the new diecuts shapes
such as the tabs, the polaroid frame and arrow.

The new clear stamps are gorgeous! The images are clear
and beautiful, such a pleasure to use those on my projects.

I hope you have a chance to get your hands on this gorgeous
collection, I personally think it's one of the best releases
at the January CHA.

Project Life Weeks 3 and 4

I'm back today with weeks 3 and 4 for my PL album.
One major factor that helps me stay up to date with my
PL is to print the pictures at home.
My DH gave me a home printer for Christmas
and it is perfect for my PL. I also take the
majority of my pictures with my trusty iPhone,
it is such a great tool to complete a PL.
Without it I do not think that I would be doing a PL.

Week 3

I also have a typewriter for my journaling. I have tried to
incorporate my handwritting, like above, and I
just don't like it, so it's back to my trusty typewriter.

Week 4

Every week I also try to include something about each girl,
that way nobody feels left out.

I never thought I would say this but... I LOVE MY PL!!!!
I love how it captures little things that I would probably forget about
or overlook. I love how the girls will see themselves grow in
these albums, remind them of a time that perhaps they've
forgotten (i'm talking when they will be teenagers here -
so dreading those years!!!). Anyways, I love my PL, if you are on
the fence of doing one think about the smaller format,
it's so much easier to work with.

I'll be sharing my PL on a monthly basis, so my next PL
blog entry will be at the begining of March, in case
anyone was wondering.

Project Life Week 1 and 2

Yep I've done it! I've joined the PL bandwagon!!!
Doing a PLalbum is a great way to capture fun
little events in our lives, I can only imagine how much
fun the girls will have years from now looking
at all our PL albums. I know I wish I had something like
this from my childhood.

I thought the 12x12 format would be to big for me
to keep up with I therefore opted for the smaller 6x8 format
with 4-3x4 pockets on each page protectors.
At first I was afraid I wouldn't have enough to "talk"
about but surprise surprise I have more than enough,
sometimes I even have to cut out stuff.

Today I will share week 1 and week 2.
I keep my PL rather simple, as opposed to scrapbooking
layouts where I have alot of embelishements and layers,
my PL is more clean and simple, makes it much
easier to keep up with.

Week 1

Since I want the girls to be able to follow along and read the
entries I've opted for a bilingual approach. The accents
are mainly in English and the journaling is in French.

Week 2

As you can see I don't have a "kit" to do my PL,
I just have odds and ends that I've collected and printed from the
web. There are also great accents on the Silhouette store.
I'll be back tomorrow with week 3 and 4.
