Let's share

Sunday night and I'm blogging, well that's a first! I'm also blogging about something not related to scrapbooking, what?! Another first. I'm hoping to take my blog in a new direction, have no fear if you are here to see scrapbooking projects I will still post these, however I am hoping to share a bit more about crafty projects I have going on, things I like (other than scrapbooking), fashion and make up. I hope you will stick around to see where I am going with this new endeavour.

As I've mentioned in a previous post, I've started using Bloglovin to follow my favourite blogs. I love that site because I am able to manage by categories all the blogs I follow, I can also see how many followers I have (hello all 29 of you that are following me via Bloglovin) and I've also been able to discover some awesome new blogs!! Tonight, I'm sharing with you some of these awesome blogs, I hope you will take a minute to check them out, they are so worth it.

1) Daily Dream Decor  what an awesome blog about anything home decor.

2)Blue Elephant Stitches this girl is uber talented! Her quilts are out of this world. I actually have one in Alexia's room, I love it.

3) JustLove.lyThings the name says it all, this blog is just lovely. Showcases pretty lovely things.

4) ohmygoodknits! I wish I could knit, honestly I've never sat down to learn but this blog inspires me to try it out.

5) The Small Things Blog this girl has amazing hair and make up tutorials. I've actually went out today, bought some new make up and hair products and made myself up for our Easter dinner. The girls were in awe that I did all that and I looked soooo pretty (their words, not mine). After having kids for the past 8 years (on & off, not being pregnant for the past 8 years), I'm ready to get back to the pre-baby me, the one that loved clothes, make up, doing my hair, working out, being fit....

I hope you have enjoyed these blogs. If you have a favourite blog or want to share your blog, make sure to leave a comment.

On this note I share with you this photo of me with my middle daughter, who decided to ham it up for the selfie I was trying to take of me. This girl has one amazing personality.

Project Life - Week 9

If you recall, a while back I posted that I changed the style of my PL from the smaller handbook version to the 12x12 spread, but one page per week only. Well, I've changed things again, I'm doing a double page per week. I have grown to love my PL so much and I want to include as much information as possible. The girls and Dan love seeing the weekly spread and this is why I'm doing a PL, for them to enjoy memories of our family life. So today I'm sharing my first double page PL.

For this spread I used a mix of digital cards from Studio Calico and some cards from the SC March PL kit. I always try to have a coordinate mix of colors, in this case navy blue, coral and green. I find this gives a more cohesive design to the spread.

As well, I try to have the same elements through out the spread. In this case, hearts and arrows. Again, this contributes to the cohesive look and feel of the spread. As for journaling I have a mix of typewriter and handwritten. I'm not a fan of my handwriting but I think my girls will appreciate this more personal approach to journaling. As well, I mix the language of my spread, including french and english. The items I want the girls to be able to read now are in French and the more personal comments (i.e. me having a bad day) are in English.

Here's a funny thought, if I had to choose between PL and layouts, I would pick PL!!! I know, I know, what a surprise but I honestly feel this is the best way for me to document our life. I want my girls to look back at our PL and remember all these little random tidbits of information about our family life. I hope you have enjoyed reading about my method of design for my PL. I'll be back with week 10 and 11 very shortly.

How you bean?!

Hahaha! I just love this stamp set. It makes me smile! This play on words is so clever! I had to use it and thought it would be perfect for a greeting card that I created for Jilibean Soup. I have a friend that I need to send this card too, I know she would appreciate the humor in this.

I paired the stamp set with speech bubbles that I cut out with the Cameo. I used the sweet pea stamp set from the Fresh Vegetable Soup collection on a medium tag and decorated the tag by creating a fun banner with a circle punch and some twine.

I just love Jillibean Soup's new acrylic stamps, the image stamps on very well, it is clear and the designs are adorable. I especially have a soft spot for the stamp sets from the Cucumber Soup collection, I can never get tired of arrows and butterflies.

US Today

Here we are the last week of March and I think I can say that Spring is in
the air. I am very excited about this and my first pedicure of the season
is schedule for this weekend, YAY!

Today I'm sharing another layout created for Hip Kit using the Feb kit. I
love the SC frames included in this kit and want to make them the main
focus of my lo. So I did what I usually do and created layers with the
frames. They each showcase a little greeting or sentiment.

I also love the chevron paper included in this kit, I wasn't sure what I
wanted to do with it until I started this layout. I cut out 2 strips of the
chevron and layered them on my layout. I also cut out some parts of
the chevron, I thought it added a fun twist to this patter. This layout
also features the Elle Studio stamp that was part of the Jan kit, what
a great stamp set to have, so versatile and fun to use. I love stamping
on my layouts, especially fun little prints or sentiments.

Today On IG

So I'm a huge iPhone and IG junkie!!! I finally got an iPhone last
fall and I really don't know how I would live without it (well
I would but it wouldn't be as fun LOL!). I especially love taking
pictures with my phone, it is very handy especially for my PL.

This layout was created for Hip Kit and features the Feb kit.
Like in my previous post, I can't stop saying how much I love
this kit. You know it's an awesome kit when you complete all
your DT projects and you keep on creating. That's how
I feel about all my Hip Kits, I love them. It's like Kimberly is my
personal shopper and uses everything I love. It makes me happy!

My inspiration for this layout was a layout created by the lovely
Jen Kinkade, this girl rocks paper, she is so talented and I am so very
inspired by her work. She created a collage of IG pics, I knew I had
to recreate it, love how her beautiful work inspired me to create a
layout that I  love. Thanks Jen!!!

Also, as soon as I saw the Elle Studio's snippets, I knew I wanted to use
a  portion of the sheet on a layout. It was the perfect fit for this layout. I
added a bit of embellishments, some stamps, love how it turned out.

In case you are still debating what to do with your Google
Reader account (it closes in July) you can follow my blog
on Bloglovin. I just love this site and the APP is fabulous.

Lazy Day

That would feel very nice right now! Lex has been teething, which
means no sleep for me. Unfortunately, today won't be a lazy day
like we had a couple of weeks ago. I do enjoy our quiet days,
just Lex and I at home, hanging out, playing, not rushing to be
anywhere or do anything. Maternity leave is a wonderful thing
and I'm lucky that I get a full year at home with my baby.

This layout was created for Hip Kits, using the Feb kit.
I just love this kit, the mix of papers and embellishments, swoon!!

I had cut out these speech bubbles a while back and
thought they would be cute on this layout. I could have
left them white with no paper underneath but I like the
added colour the paper brings to the white background.
Love the yellow background paper which makes this
a very vibrant page. Finally, the Thickers!!! Oh my!
They are my favourite Thickers ever!!! Love the font,
the thickness (they are thinner than other Thickers)
and the woodgrain colour, beautiful!!!

Make sure to check the Hip Kit site to see the full content
of this awesome kit (link to the left )

Butterfly Wishes

Here we are, one day before Spring and eastern Ontario is being hit
with a mega snowstorm. I guess Mother Nature really wanted to
remind us of who is in charge, but I've seriously had enough! I
know, I know, I live in Canada, get used to it, blah blah blah...
I just don't care, I will never get used to it, I will never like it
but I will also never move to a warmer climate. Sigh. So what's
a girl to do? Keep on buying cute scarves and hats...

Now nothing like butterflies to make you think of Spring, and
that was exactly my intention when I created this card for
Jillibean Soup. I wanted something light, pretty and a soft
color palette. I used a white background and the new
Jillibean Soup stamps from the Chilled Cucumber line.
Using Jenni Bowlin ink pads (my fave, really disappointed that
they are no longer manufactured) I created a "flight" of
butterflies. I stitched the middle part of the butterflies and
lifted the wings, by doing this I added dimension to the card.

So who is the weather in your corner of the world?!
Please tell me you are wearing flip flops and capris.
And if you can, please send some sunshine my way.

Love This Moment

Well it's another Monday morning, the girls are gone back to
school after a well needed break. Last week was great, even Dan
was home, so we kept busy, did lots of activities with the girls.
A new week bring new beginnings, the house is quieter today,
and will stay tidy until the girls return home. Sometimes the noise
and mess get to me but then I stop for a second and realize
that one day those socks under the table will be gone, the
stuffed animals will be put away for good, the girls will not
want to know what I'm reading or crafting, they will have
their own lives to live, I will be back to having a tidy home but
I know that I will miss the toys in the stairs, the barbies in
the tub, the mountain of clothes to wash. I will miss it...

So this brings me to this layout, a picture of Bri and Lex
when Lex was about a month old. Bri still hadn't figured out
what to make of that little person who took up all my time,
drained the life out of me and cried all the time. She did
love Lex and in moments like this one my tired heart would
swell up in pride and love for these girls.

This layout was part of a DT challenge issued by the Big Bean,
aka Jill from the Jillibean Soup. We had to use as many lines as
possible on our layout. I used 8 different lines with various
papers from each collection. I paired this with the new Placemats,
they are a great alternative to using a Cameo, saves lots of
time on cutting. They are also available in white or kraft and
a multitude of patterns. A truly brilliant work of art from
Jill and co.

I added layers and stamps, from the new collection. I also added
a bit of stitching around the circles but man that was hard!!!
Stitching in circles is not my thing.

Now for a little public service announcement, if you are a follow of
my blog via goggle reader you might have learned that google reader
will be abolished as of July 2013. I have to discovered bloglovin, I just
love this site and there's even an APP, sweet. You can follow my

Hip Kit March Kit!!!

Good Friday morning! Today I'm sharing a couple of cards that I
created with my January Hip Kit, along with brand new preview
of the March kit!!!

The Elle Studio stamp that was included in the January PL kit
was perfect for this card. Love how the speech bubbles showcase
the multiple greetings. This is a fun way to use up left over
scraps of papers.

For this card I wanted to layer the Dear Lizzy chipboard accents, the
welcome home chipboard is my main accent and I built the rest of
the embellishments around the greeting.

Onto the March kit...one word AMAZING!!! Lots of new releases, Dear
Lizzy, Amy Tan, Maggie Holmes for CP, Jillibean Soup. Scrappers heaven
pure and simple, I can not wait for this beauty to show up on my front porch!

The add-on embellishment kit feature the new CP chipboard shapes and
Amy Tan album, yay!!! Seriously, this could not be any better!!!

If you are interested in these kits, they will be up on the Hip Kit site at
10am today, the add on kit has been selling out quickly, so I wouldn't
wait too long, otherwise they will be gone for sure!

Good Life & Good Times

Today I am sharing a couple of cards I created for Hip Kit Club
using the Jan kit. The first card features a mix of the letters from the
Fancy Pants tags, I used them to create a greeting. Love the wood
grain paper paired with teal and red accents. Love this color combo.

Using modeling paste and a mask, I created a fun chevron effect on the
Fancy Pants tag. It adds lots of texture of dimension. It was my second
time using modeling paste, I'm hooked!

If you are interested in this kit you can check out the Hip Kit site using the
link to the left. Kimberly's kit are fabulous, always the latest and greatest!!!

Project Life 7 & 8

I love Project Life!!! I never ever thought I would. When the concept first
came out I didn't really get it, I always thought I didn't have enough to
document or talk about. This year I decided to give it a try with the small
Handbook from Studio Calico and I really liked it. I quickly realized that
I had too much to document, ha! So I changed it up to the 12x12 format,
I'm doing one page a week but that could change as well. I am surprised
at how much I love the PL concept, I imagine my girls reading the PL
years from now and seeing their look of amazement as they recall what
we did, said, went, etc... If someone tomorrow told me that I had to pick
between layouts and a PL, guess what I would pick....

I created these spreads using the Hip Kit Jan PL kit. I keep a similar
muted color palette and design. Week 8 was a bit rough for me, I didn't
have a lot of pictures to use to I talked about my feelings as a mom and
dealing with ups and downs of motherhood. It felt great to put these
feelings on paper. I'm also trying to embrace my handwriting, using
my typewriter is ok, but I feel that it is more personal, from the heart,
when I hand write my journaling.

Simply Wonderful

Happy Friday friends! Today I'm sharing the layout I created for Kristine's
new sketch book, see posts below for more details on how you can
purchase this amazing sketch book.

My inspiration for this layout was the title banner, I love the negative
cut out, the sparkle finish is an added bonus. I wanted to keep this layout
light and soft, I therefore used lots of pale and muted colours.

I used a lot of my favourite supplies of this page, arrows, washi tape,
stamps, tags and sequins. I had fun experimenting with Mister Huey mist
to create the ombre effect on the tag. Funny how trying new things
can really spark an idea and inspiration.

Cool Beans

Happy Thursday friends. I hope you are having a good week. March
break is just around the corner for the big girls, they are in desperate
need of a holiday, the grumpiness/drama levels have reached a new all
time high. A nice staycation will do them a world of good. I'm busy
planning activities and outings to keep them entertained for the next
week. I think we are going to have fun!

Onto scrappy things, today I'm sharing a layout created for Jillibean Soup
using the new Fresh Vegetable collection. This line was perfect for pics
of Brianna and her accomplishment at growing green beans. She was the
only one in her class that ended up with a huge plant of beans.

The coordinating stamps are adorable, especially the bean stamp, I had
to use it. I added loads of stickers, diecuts and stamps from the
collection. Love the kraft colour with this line, it adds an earthy feel that
was perfect for the topic of this layout. Now looking at this layout, I
just want to pull out that collection again and play so more. Perhaps I
will do just that during nap time today.

Hello again friends!!! Two posts in one day!?
What can I say, it's a busy day in my scrappy world!!!

sketch from the fabulously talented Shanna Noel!!!
I have to admit that I have a scrappy crush on Shanna,

This is my take on her awesome sketch.

I have to say that I'm pretty happy with the end result, it was the
first time I tried modeling paste and I just love the effect!!!
I also used Maggie Holmes new collection for Crate Paper,
what an amazing collection, so trendy!!! Love it!

played along this month

Hip Kit Club - January Kit

This makes me ridiculously...happy!
This the title on the layout I am sharing with you today.
I've created this layout with the amazing January Hip Kit.
I am seriously drooling and hoarding every little bit of
this kit. I have a serious issue with the gold polka dot velum
paper, it makes me happy and I want to cover everything in it!

There's so much to say about this layout, I just don't know where
to begin. I've used a circle template as the focus for
my title and embellishments. I have to admit that I've
changed the title of this layout 3 times before settling on this
one, does this ever happen to you? I'm glad tho with this one,
it really makes me happy!

Fall is good for the soul! I just love that little sticker.
Of course right now I'm wishing that Spring would arrive,
but that's a whole other blog post/rant.

Hope you have enjoyed this post, let me know, I sometimes feel like
I'm blabbing on. Honestly, I wish I could be a better blogger,
it is what it is. :)
