Week 19

Hello everyone, is it already Friday? Wow, this week has totally got away from me. We painted our living / dinning room a lovely shade of light grey, all my energy has been focused on trying to decorate our new rooms. Going from a country cottage design to a contemporary design is a bit challenging, I love the clean look of the new rooms but now I'm struggling to put my vision together, it will get done, I'm just not very patient with these kinds of things. 

In the meantime here is week 19, I mostly use a Studio Calico kit for this spread. The pictures were a mix of different colours so I decided to keep a simple design of white, green and oranges. Week 19 was busy with dance recitals, school events and mother's day. 

I was disappointed that we couldn't take pictures at Danika's recital, but we were allowed at her rehearsal, that's where I took the b&w pic. I thought the woodgrain thickers completed the orange cards and i'll be honest, I hadn't open up that pack of thickers yet, so 

As I previously mentioned this week was busy, I had a lot of pictures to includes, I decided to do a small collage of the pictures take at the cupcakes store. This is a great way to include a lot of pictures without taking up too much space.

Hip Kit for June - Hello Sunshine

I just love it when Kimberly shares the upcoming kit, I get giddy with excitement because her kits are always so fabulous!!! June is no exception to the rule, I love the mix of Crate Paper, Lily Bee and Echo Park papers!!! I think this will be a perfect kit for all those summer pics!!!

I also have to mention the embellishment kit!!!! I'm an embellishment junkie, so I just love that Kimberly always offers an extra kit to cater to people like me. ;) Those BG wood banners make me seriously happy!!!

Week 18

I know I've proclaimed my love before for Project Life but I have to do it again. With 3 kiddos, a busy life and everything else, scrapbooking time is not as ample as it used to be. I still love love love creating layouts, which satisfies my need to do something creative but I equally love working on my PL. Sometimes it might take me a week to complete a spread but I try to touch it everyday. It satisfies my need to do something crafty on a daily basis, even if it's only for 15 minutes. I get to play with paper and document our daily life. I can't wait for the day the girls look back at our PL and laugh or cry at the moments captured and documented.

Week 18 was a pretty typical week. The usual home stuff, plus a garage sale that's been in the making for the past 2 years. So happy that we have finally tackled this daunting task. It feels great to let go of stuff that was accumulating dust, even if it's the baby change table. Sniff sniff. Like Danika says, "they grow so fast". Yes my 8 year old says that, but I think it's to make fun of me. 

For this week I get a pretty simple color palette, greens, white and greys. The pictures were colourful so I didn't want anything too contrasting. Most of the products used are from Studio Calico. I also love using the Freckled Fawn wood embellishments on my PL, a perfect accent for my card and the thickness is just right. I do not like thick embellishments in my PL.

I very much look forward to get my first PL core kit from Becky Higgins, I think I will tackle our 2012 album. I can't wait to get started!

Week 17

This week has been very productive, I've completed week 17 and 18, I'm also mid-way through week 19, yay me!! I know that if I fall behind too much I'll never get caught up and having a partially completed album will bug me, a lot!! 

When I started my PL, my first week had a date card and every week thereafter. I've tried to do differently but it just bugs me, so the week card stays. I really love the color combo of this spread, the design of the cards are lovely. I also love the Freckled Fawn wood speech bubbles, they are the perfect size for my PL, the hello bubble paired with the picture of Lexi just makes me laugh.

The journaling was done solely with my typewritter, I've tried to write the journaling but I'm never happy with my handwritting and I always end up disliking the finish product, so back to my trusty typewriter I go. 

Next week I will be able to share week 18 and 19, YAY!!! In the meantime, thanks for the lovely comments and for taking time out of your lovely day to visit my blog. 

Happy Place

I have enjoyed my March Hip Kit so much that I couldn't resist creating another layout. I also have to admit, that I HAD to use the "this is my happy place" chipboard accent, this was just screaming at me to use it on a layout about scrapbooking, I just couldn't ignore it. ;)

I used the Jillibean Soup placemat on part of the background, love white on white, I never get tired of doing that. Of course I added stitching, layers and stamping, I can't seem to do a layout without any of these items. 

The June Hip Kit will premier today on the Hip Kit blog, I know Kimberly has rocked it once again!!! I'll post a picture here as soon as I can. 

Week 16 with Jillibean Soup

Today, on the Jillibean Soup blog, I'm sharing my process for creating my PL spreads. Week 16 was a especially good week to feature because mid-way through my process I realized that I was missing half my pictures, oooops. 4cards1hour (part 2)

Using the March Hip Kit kit, these cards were part of my challenge to create 4 cards in 1 hour, I actually surprised myself and was able to complete the challenge. This first card was easy to complete because I already had the circles from the Blessed layout I created (posted below), all I had to do is find embellishments and I was done. I framed the card by adding stitching and a bit of mist splatter for a distress look. This is a perfect card for my hubby.

This card started with the Hello journaling sheet from the Amy Tangerine album (included in the March Hip Kit). Then I created a ticket, which is super easy to do and embellished. I think this card took a whole 10 minutes to complete. 

I think this will be a current feature on my blog, I like the challenge and always seem to push myself to think outside the box and not doubt my process as much.

4 cards - 1 hour (Part 1)

Happy Friday!!! The week has again flown by, the days are warmer and longer, the girls come home exhausted, they are in serious need of a holiday and I get to enjoy wonderful long walks with Alexia. I just love this time of the year. 

These cards are part of a set of 4, which were created with the March Hip Kit. My goal was to create 4 cards in less than a hour and I'm happy to say that it worked! When working with kits I always keep my cards for last, this way I can use up all those tiny pieces of scrap paper and random embellishments. 

This card was rather simple, splatter mist, add square piece of paper and layer title with paper and chipboard. Voila!

This card was a tad more time consuming, only because of the stitching. I cut the Jillibean Soup placemat to fit my card, added pattern paper, stitching and then the title. 

Happy early Mother's Day to all the mommies, I hope your day will be relaxing, with loads of hugs and laughter. 

Gabry Road

I have to share these wonderful cases for my iPad and iPhone that I recently purchased from Rosa at Gabry Road. Rosa is an amazing seamstress, I just love her work, so when I was looking for cases I knew she was the right person to call. Another bonus, she lives down the hill from me. :)

All her items are listed in her Etsy shop - Gabry Road. Her aprons are amazing, such a perfect Mother's day gift! I was so happy with my items that I've already asked Rosa to create something else for me. I'm also thinking of getting iPhone cases for the girl's teachers. I think it would be an original gift to offer a teacher. I hope you will take a second to check out Rosa's shop. 

New Look

I wanted to give a BIG shout out to the mega talented Kristine Davidson, she did an amazing job at giving my blog a new fresh look. I am so happy with how this turned out. If you are looking to spruce up your blog, I most definitely suggest that you check Kristine's blog, you won't be disapointed.

Baby Girl

I had a bit of a break between assignments so I decided to play along with the Crate Paper creative challenge. It had been a while since I did a challenge, it was fun. To create this layout I used a lot of different CP collections, I wanted a soft color palette to compliment the sweet picture of my baby girl. 

The circle frame was cut with the Cameo. I then used a chevron mask with gold mist, I felt like it needed a little extra something, this was just the thing. I kept the embellishment to a minimum and used a lot of pattern paper instead. Love the soft feel of this layout. 

Week 15

Well I'm starting to feel a bit behind on my PL, I think this calls for PL marathon until I've caught up to week 18. I think staying up to date with my PL is the key to making this PL thing work for me. If I get too behind I just might drop the whole thing, nah that won't happen but it will surely cause me some stress, and that I do not want. 

For this spread I used the PL kit from Studio Calico. Love those quote cards and wood veneers card. 

Loved creating the decorative card using diecuts and a flair button. In the envelope I've written a note to the girls, I wonder if one day they will realize there's a letter in there for them. I sure hope so.

My big and little together, love taking pictures of my girls, it's even better when everyone cooperates and I can have some great pictures.

Blessed

Happy NSD!!! Ok I'm a couple days late but we had a busy weekend and I didn't get to participate in any NSD festivities. Boo for me! Funny how someone picked May for this holiday, wouldn't it be better in March or even January when most of us are hibernating? Just a thought...

I do have  layout to share which was created with March HipKit. I decided to create a grid design and embellish each one of the squares. Those Amy Tangerine stickers are the best, love the colours orange, grey, pink and teal, great colour combination! I did mix some of the Amy Tangerine stickers with the Dear Lizzy chip shapes. A bit of stitching around each squares and voila, a fun grid design.

So I've been on a purging frenzy, it is crazy how much stuff we accumulate. I've been selling stamps, old kits, toys, furniture, etc... Just making room, we don't need so much stuff. It feels great to be cleaning house, it's very liberating. What have you been up to this Spring? Anyone else cleaning out their house?

Lovely Girl

Hello Friday! So happy to see you and to have time to blog. I just love nap time. Ha! Today I'm sharing a layout I created for HipKit. I wanted to try something different and to use up those scraps of paper. So I just started to randomly put squares of paper on my background and voila, this is the result. It didn't feel complete, so I added some stitching, then I was happy with the result.

It's pretty clear that this is patchwork or quilt inspired design. I have to admit that I've been looking at various quilts online, I have a thing for quilts, I'm very envious of quilters, I should just learn how to quilt but I am not sure I am a good enough seamstress to make a quilt. I'll be honest, the only sewing that I do is on paper. Ha! Now you know my little secret.

I just love the mix of papers that is in this kit and the Dear Lizzy chipboard accents are fabulous. I'll be back next week with more projects that I created with this awesome kit!

Week 14

I was on the Jillibean Soup blog yesterday talking about week 14 and how to use stamps on a PL projects.  I didn't have a lot of pictures to use for that particular week, that's where the Bite Size cards are handy. For this spread I used the Farm Fresh collection, it was so very perfect for the pictures of Bri playing with her kitchen. All the close up and details are on the Jillibean Soup. 

Just curious on how many of my blog followers do a PL or some version of PL. If you have a second leave me a comment and let me know what you find most challenging when completing a PL spread. For me it's finding the right balance between the pictures of my daughthers, I never want one to feel left out, so I will either dedicate a week to each girl (in this case Bri) or I will have equal amount of pics of all the girls. What's your biggest challenge?
